Praise be! We managed to make it out of the God forsaken magical fog maze. I don’t know what relationship whoever wrote that song had/has with Darwin, but they have my thanks and the thanks of everyone in the Mercy Unit. We followed the clues and solved the last musical piece of the puzzle presented to us by a large tree and its roots and finally found ourselves just on the outskirts of the mine.
After arriving on the edge of the entrance to the mine, we noticed a small handful of workers and a few guards. Using my trusty companion Boris, I was able to learn that the workers are actually slaves. People taken from their homes and forced to do the manual labor of the Shuck mining company. With this knowledge and taking a brief short rest, we tried to plan out our course of action. Unfortunately, we were too indecisive and a large explosion rattled and cracked the ground from within the mine; much larger than we heard or felt before. Soon after, 4 golems came charging out of the mine. They appeared to be dwarves that were magically altered by the explosion and were no longer aware of or in control of what they were doing.
We defeated the dwarf-golems, but the explosion in the mine crippled the structural integrity of the tunnel system and the whole mine began to collapse. Among the sounds of falling rocks and cracking wood, we heard cries for help from within the cave.
Darwin flew in to investigate with the last few minutes left on his Fly spell and found not only the source of the cries, but the source of the explosion. He collected a small vial of the liquid and flew back out and let everyone know. Some of the party rushed in to help the trapped workers before the entire mine caved in. We unfortunately were only able to save 2 people of the remaining that were trapped. But at least some of them made it out alive; one of which turned out to be Aervara’s father who seemed to have a case of amnesia from a head injury.
