Chapter 1, Part IV: Not What They Seem
by Archivist Owen Lively (Roscoe)
We were stopped in our tracks and attacked by what we later learned were guards of the goblin homestead in the caves; a pair of elemental water snakes. We managed to saves ourselves from drowning thanks to the efforts of Sir Hector, Victoro, and Aervara in finding a large rock and uncorking the bottle, if you will. Draining the water gushing into the chamber while the rest of us handled defeating the water serpents. I certainly don't want to take all the credit, but my use of shape water was very clever and came in very handy.
Anyway anyway, we met up with Oleg and the other goblins of his clan? Or tribe...? I'm not entirely sure. But we met up with them and discussed who he wanted the orb for. We were very grateful for their cooperation and hospitality despite Aine being uncharacteristically aggressive and hateful towards them even though they didn't seem hostile.
We were able to determine that they were going to meet someone at the Cuckoo Clock Inn in the Copper District of Gilding and hand off the orb so they could get it to The Knightingale; the most wanted "criminal" in Materhawk. So, we decided to split up the party since regrettably Gilding has restricted entry to the districts beyond the market based on your lineage (disgusting >:/).
We purchased a couple sending stones after getting back to Gilding and parted ways to accomplish as much info gathering as we could. The team that stuck around the marketplace (Ardyn, Mews, Darwin, and Aine) met up with the blacksmith and discussed meeting them at their tent later that evening outside the city. They also came across a wanted poster for the Knightingale, but on the back was a mysterious invitation to a gathering tomorrow night in Dawnway. The other team, able to get visitors' passes thanks to Owen's city status, entered the Copper District and searched for the Cuckoo Clock Inn.
It...uh...didn't go very well for the most part and we may or may not be getting tailed by someone(s) from the Thieves' Guild, but terrible disguises and stealth choices aside, we found our way to the Inn.
There, we learned how apparently numerous the recipes for pies are (some aren't really pie. very disappointed.) and we learned more about the organization known as The Founding Feathers and their goal to have Gilding and the continent as a whole be a better place for all people, not just the ones in power; and that my parents are members of the high council of the organization or something. . . it's a lot to take in. We then met up with the rest of the party at the Blacksmith's tent and learned more about the event tomorrow night and started thinking about what our, apparently required, masks will be.
