Hey, Punk. Kinda didn't see the point of writing these cuz we finally got to see each other after all this time, you don't know how relieved I was to see that you and mom were ok. I can tell you like my new friends, they're all great, and I'm sure they remind you of some of our friends when we were still on the streets. Anyways, I know Wiltspar is really fuckin' strange but, I know you're not gonna have an issue making friends there and I'm glad to have you there to help keep my mom outta trouble.

We're on a boat now and it's insane. There was a lotta drama with getting this damn thing, Boaty's old captain had it when he betrayed Boaty and left him for dead, we beat the captain's ass in an arena and the captain got arrested. Long story short, we're on a boat headed north. We had to go through a blockade and I was kinda nervous about it, not cuz of the blockade itself but, because this group is so good at so many things but, not talking to people. For some reason, when we talk to people shit just falls apart. We managed to get through the blockade ok then, we were just out at sea. I get why Boaty loves this so much, it's beautiful out here on the ocean, I climbed up to the highest point I could find on the boat and just watched the world go by. When this is all done, I wanna take you on a boat so we can just see the world. I think that would be nice...

FUCKIN' FORGET EVERYTHING I SAID ABOUT THE OCEAN BEING NICE, I WAS WRONG, AND IT'S FUCKING TERRIFYING! It was chill for a while, Raveth showed me how to steer a boat, I was at the "helm" (that's where the captain stands to steer the boat) for a while and it's all chill, right? Fuckin' wrong a damn massive fuckin' fuck off big fuckin' tentacle bullshit popped outta the damn water to say "hello". I swear, if it weren't for Theo and his magic, we woulda been fucked, he managed to get rid of the fuckin' thing. I guess it's called a Thresher, I dunno, I've gotta get stronger if I'm gonna take you on a boat cuz I couldn't exactly promise your safety if we ran into one of those things without the gang with me.

Raveth and Grayce catching up off-screen

Boaty talking to Bucky about CPT Preston and why Bucky was still part of his crew

Bucky kept his head down and did his work to survive

Rix and Louie pile on Bucky a bit, I try to remind them that Bucky is the one who knows how to get through the blockade

I feel like we can trust Bucky

Much talk of various plans to try to get through the blockade. Pretend to be merchants, pretend to be a demon ship, pretend to be bringing a message on behalf of the captured CPT Preston

Bucky on the ORC: whenever we would stop at a port we would get "new" members of the crew, pretty confident they were ORC. They basically started doing all the important jobs on the ship

We settle on pretending to be bringing a message from CPT Preston to his contact in Crystalia

CPT Raveth is very annoying from Theo's perspective lol

We take a long rest, portents for the day are 20!!! And 7. Time to deal with the Fear Box

Rix and I are not affected by the fear, Louie is afraid

Rix runs up and kicks it, hears what are probably living creatures inside

There are a bunch of whatever is in there

Louie opens up the box, giant rats scatter, Grayce throws a dagger at one and hits a nat 20

Bone instruments in the box is what is giving off the magic aura

We finalize our plan to pretend to be CPT Preston's messengers

We approach the blockade around 3:30 AM

Boat in front of us has a cursive flag with GPC, Global Protective Collective, like an international police force (GPC HQ is in outside of Hope in Loretide)

The GPC boat quickly makes it through the blockade. Theo thinks about messaging them but they are out of range

Rix expertly talks us through the first wave of the blockade in spite of her fake name being Stacey, the second wave is going to be a little more intense it sounds

Boarded by ~20 people

They dispel the eternal flames

This guy is really giving us the third degree

I approach the guy who led the casting of dispel magic, he's an olive skinned human, he likes my gumption, he actually writes the spell Dispel Magic into my spellbook let's goooo

We pass the inspection. Rix and I throw down some whiskey

I check the spellbook to make sure the Boatzard didn't dupe me

Rix and Raveth talk patrons, Rix's patron is named Jasper, related to Nihm somehow

Raveth's patron is "the goddess of illusions", name is Tali, she talks to Raveth from time to time

I use my portent natural 20 to find a diamond worth 300 GPC

Long rest, Portent are 13 and 9

Rix trying to learn how to cobble in her downtime

Louie asks Raveth if she knows where to get a necklace made from the dragon tooth. The Goliaths in Marrow have a trade called Bonecrafting

Raveth shows Louie how to drive the boat

I sit with my Tiny Dancer and try to contemplate what the fuck my life has become. Flashback to a time when I was studying in my mom's library, the smell of the books, the light coming in the window, the cool of the darkness that comes in when I've spent my entire day in the library. Perspective shifts and I'm looking at my younger self. I basically create a paradox and send myself on the journey of learning magic? Perspective shifts and I feel a nudge myself, I take it to mean there is a version of me that made it more than 20 days in this life and I take that to mean I might be okay

TB looking through the ship to find remembrances of his old crew mates. Before he was TB he was The Gunner, because he was The Gunner's Mate. The Chief Gunner was a Kenku named Kirk Plooey (after the sound of cannon explosions). He finds Kirk's jacket (which has faux feathers which is amazing. He packs the coat up before all the coat enjoyers can snatch it up, with the intent to return the coat to the sea.

Another long rest, portent are another 20!!! and a 5

We wake up the next morning and the boat is rocking heavily, it is windy and cold and the water is choppy

Fucked up shit is happening on the boat

Louie sees a Serpentine thing latched on to the ship and there's a whirlpool forming to the back left

This might be a Thresher

We rolling initiative against this bitch, the Thresher is creating the whirlpool

TB says Threshers should only have 3 tentacles and this one has 4

The tentacles don't look normal, they look like each has their own mouth/face to them

TB thinks this is The Sovereign Below

RIP Pecan (Death #4)

We defeat it with a well-executed Vortex Warp, Pecan is the real MVP tbh
