Boris Mous's Story

Boris has been a fan of creating fantasy stories since he was a child. The trouble is, living in a world where the common themes of fantasy are part of every day life, his stories were met with harsh criticism even among his friends. "Too troupey." or "This really isn't all that believable, dude." is what he's get from anyone that read what he wrote. This led to too much disappointment and heart-ache for Boris, so that part of him remained behind closed doors purely for his own enjoyment while in solitude. He decided that writing would become just a hobby and that he would pursue more realistic and promising goals that his parents suggested; the study of the arcane at the prestigious Mystics and Magics Academic Institution in Gilding.
He busted his butt and studied hard to finish at the top of his class in the preliminary course before going on to the university equivalent of the Institution. During his time at university, he had a group of friends that were also intensely committed to the goal of graduating with high marks and much accumulated knowledge of the magic of the world. While some students would party, Boris and his friends would have get togethers where they would test their knowledge through mock exams and practice the spells they've learned. Boris was never a top performer among the group, but he wasn't coming in last place either. One of the spells that they learned about was Find Familiar. Boris *immediately* took a liking to this particular spell as he used it to summon a familiar in the likeness of a childhood pet that still holds a prominent spot in his heart; Boris the rat who passed away years ago before he attended school. Rat Boris would always sit quietly and eat little portions of the food that human Boris would have while writing in his room and would often act as a deciding factor on the narrative.
A few months after graduating, Boris' parents suggested that he look into the Adventurer's Guild as a path. So, he left home to see what it was.
