Continent of Ardesia


The continent of Ardesia is home to a wide range of peoples, cultures and conflicts. This sprawling landmass-- one of Fynali's largest-- is filled with varied biomes, from the arid grasslands of Cordillero to the frigid peaks of Crystalia. It is the most populous continent by far, with about 400 Million people calling Ardesia home.


Crystalia

In the northern expanse, where the bitter cold of Frost never truly leaves, Crystalia stands. Haupstadt, the small Capitol city of the region, embraces the chill, and is home to a modest population of Humans, elves, dwarves, and bugbears mostly. The northern end of the Resulven Mountain range-- Elvish for the Spine of the Dragon-- starts in this region and continues to sprawl out through the majority of Ardesia. Marrow, hostile in its cold, cradles a tribe of Goliaths, descendants of frost giants, at the northernmost point of Fynali.

Evervale

Evervale is home to a large array of contrasting landscapes, from cliffs and beaches to forests and mountain ranges. Though one thing most of Evervale's unique features have in common is their inherent danger. And if the land itself wasn't dangerous enough, the on-going war between Evervale and Crystalia that has continued on-and-off for centuries has created pockets of marauders, bandits, and other groups of bad-faith actors looking to take advantage of those foolish enough to travel through the region. The largest pocket of these dangers rests deep in Ardesia's most contested area: The Northreach Glades. Both Crystalia and Evervale have laid claim to these woods, believing the frigid glade home to some of the most holy land on Fynali. Lorecliff, a city constructed at the westernmost end of the continent, stands tall as the region's Capitol, a rare center of industry and innovation in an otherwise beleaguered country.

Iridea

Iridea is the most populous region on Ardesia, and the most temperate, experiencing the full breadth of the four seasons. It is home to Platinum City, a place well-known for its safety due to the inability to lie while within its massive walls. This massive city is run by the Chancellor Typhon Darling, an elf who was instrumental in the building of Platinum City centuries prior. The town of Azphaleia, although modest in size, has built a large reputation across the continent as a place where everyone is welcome, though it is one of the most difficult places to travel to due to its position between two rivers and the massive arcane storm off the northeastern coast. Iridea also encompasses the Bamboo Islands to the south and Conclave Island to the north. The Resulven mountains twist to an end in Iridea after cutting through Evervale completely.

Cordillero

Cordillero, the southernmost region of Ardesia, boasts scattered forests and the vast Lorzo Grasslands. Porto Sacura, the Capitol, stands as a bustling port city in its position just north of Avarre. This city is known for its art, music, and unique architctural styles.

Tempestua

Tempestua is an island wrapped in an arcane storm, its origins as mysterious as the storm itself. The storm unleashes bursts of magic, the force unpredictable and trecherous, keeping most from ever venturing too close. No other Ardesian region has cared to lay claim to this massive liability, leaving Tempestua untamed, unchecked, and untethered by the rest of the continent.
