NPC Compendium

Who are the people of Fynali? Helpful, harmful or indifferent, they live here for your perusal and recollection.

Kelton Abirnathy

Sea-elf, Assistant to Adriana Grayforge

Kelton is an artificer and the assistant to Adriana Grayforge. While the Moonlighters were in Lorecliff, he assisted them with getting access to Adriana as well as setting up a meeting for Captain Preston that would allow the Moonlighters to publicly expose his treason.

Adalair

Owner of the Moonlight Carnival

Adalair appears as a tall, slender elven man, who, despite his gray hair --which adds an air of maturity--, maintains a youthful appearance. He wears a pair of thin-framed round glasses, and is usually seen in a three piece suit, the main pieces of which are in a seafoam green and turquoise blue color. He speaks with a distinguished and clear accent, but is no stranger to flights of grandiosity and theater. Although more polished than his counterpart, it is clear that Adalair is drawn to whimsy. But do not mistake his even keel and charm for weakness, else you make a fierce mistake.

Lady Farryn Atharia

Titan, Lady of Taur-Iaun

Lady Farryn has a river of sleek white hair and wears a crown made of flowers and pointed branches. The shape of her face and ears are similar to that of an elf, but the color and texture of her tree bark skin gives the impression she is of different ancestry entirely. She is soft spoken and graceful, but cares deeply about her land, her people, and their cultures and traditions. She was good friends and allies with Chancellor Darling, and has offered her aid and allyship to The Moonlighters as well.

Aurifar

Elf, Leader of Wiltspar

Known as the Oracle, Aurifar is the leader and the head of the Wiltspar community. He is a talented divination wizard with the infuriating ability to see and know many events before they happen.

Bopper Brooks the Spireseeker

Gnome, Fighter

Bopper Brooks the Spireseeker is a well-meaning member of the royal navy who, upon learning that a gang of pirates planned to rob the queen's yacht, decided to empty its vault first to keep the treasure safe. This unfortunately led to him being branded a criminal, and he had to flee the country. His captain, Ike, was imprisoned in his place, in the deadly Tower of Fallen Angels. Bopper dedicated his life to freeing his captain and, though it cost him his very existence, he succeeded.

Bucky

Quartermaster of the Queen Dowager

Bucky is an old friend of the Boatswain's, having traveled with him while they were both a part of Captain Preston's crew. He currently is acting Quartermaster for the Queen Dowager/Void Queen.

Crete

Minotaur, Registrar at Platinum City Coliseum

Crete is the first line of adminstrative defense for the Warden's Coliseum. No team gets by him without first registering their official party name and signing the waiver (which absolves the coliseum of any liability in the event of injury or death of any participants).

Zuri Dusk-Fang

Drow, Entrepreneur

Zuri is the older sister of Zara Dusk-Fang (of Moonlighter fame) and is easily the most business-savvy of the Dusk-Fang family. At a young age, she was known to always be making deals for low value resources and making very intelligent investments for her age. When she hit her late teens, Zuri had opened an expansive traveling merchant network that even reaches Fynali’s surface. By twenty-eight, Zuri had made her way into the ranks of the upper echalon of Lorecliff, landing the role of assistant to Farraday Lawson, noted businessman and owner of the Gladitorial Grand Slam.

Gozbert Hogg of S.U.N.

Halfling, Bard

Gozbert is a member of the Slippery Underground kNaves, a thieves' guild in Porto Sacura. His good friend Nezin Softwoods was caught during their last job and was imprisoned in a high-security prison within the jurisdiction of Porto Sacura. Gozbert schemed to break his friend from this inescapable prison. During the successful attempt to free his friend, he was killed, but his friend was able to escape.

Adriana Grayforge

Human, Artificer & Current CEO of Grayforge Industries

Adriana is the many-times great granddaughter of AGI Proprietor Adrian Grayforge. Her ingenuity and creativity has shifted the field of technomancy in the world of Fynali, and contributed to many of the more modern innovations that exist on the planet.

Grimmi Loch Folly of the Merciful

Dwarf, Rogue

Son of a dock worker who was killed by a criminal organization and was spared by the assassin who killed his father. Grimmi wasted his youth chasing vengeance, only to find no satisfaction in finally enacting his revenge on the man who killed his father. After realizing this, Grimmi was killed by the daughter of the assassin he had killed.

Chancellor Typhon Darling (Soulbound)

Celestial, Chancellor of Platinum City; High Keeper of Enchantment

Chancellor Typhon Darling is the chancellor of Platinum City and the leader of the nation of Iridea. He is responsible for the construction of the city nearly 200 years ago, and has remained as its leader for its existence. He has worked to ensure that his city is "The Safest City in Fynali," which has allowed it to prosper under his guidance.

After the Moonlighters unified, passing Typhon's trial, he was able to pass his powers on to the Shield, where his magic was bound. He used one last burst of his magic at the Battle of Wiltspar, leaving behind his material body.

Henry the Drifter

Human, Fighter

Henry's father, Henry Sr., was an exceedingly cruel man. Fearing he would become like him, Henry wandered from town to town trying to help who he could, trying to make up for his father's wrongs as best he was able. He died peacefully in his sleep.

Lundy Lex (Deceased)

Satyr, Apprentice to Dr. vanRicketts

Lundy was the young apprentice to the famous alchemist Randall vanRicketts. She assisted him in all sort of experimentations, using her special abilities to alter the alchemical structure of potions and poisons.

Margaulies

Goliath, Former First Mate of the Lost Hope; Interim Boatswain of the Void Queen

Raveth's right hand gal and muscle.

Neilius Night-Whispers

Gnome, Wizard

Neilius Night-Whispers grew up with Kathryn Frizzlebum-- a mother, a teacher, a light on this world. She taught him that information and education were the most important pursuit. He grew to become the best wizard/librarian that he could, to learn all there was no know and share it with all who asked. He was impatient because he felt that there would never be enough time to be generous with all the worlds' knowledge. He died peacefully in his sleep later in his life.

Nemona the Bastion

Tiefling, Wizard

Nemona was an anonymous writer who wrote volumes of folklore from a group of people who were despised, the victims of attempted genocide. She kept publishing despite the danger. It was critical to her to represent her people's real lives and immortalize the history that others were trying to eradicate, without feeding into negative stereotypes.

Chieftain Ouglana

Orc, Leader of Gragthar

Chieftain Ouglana is a fierce and imposing figure, with skin the color of rich emeralds and long, sharp fangs that protrude from her lower jaw. Her deep, accented voice rumbles like thunder, leaving no doubt as to her authority and power. As an orc from the great region of Gragthar, Chieftain Ouglana is stoic and determined. She is a highly competent warrior, but wary and suspicious of strangers, taking time to evaluate their intentions and potential threat to her people. Her fierce protection of her people make her a force on the world stage, though her connection and appreciation for traditions and simplicity often allow her to be underestimated by others.

Deputy Officer Junior Officer

Human, Deputy Officer of the Fynali Protective Collective

Junior Officer is a Deputy Officer with the Fynali Protective Collective. He travels the world, using diplomacy, negotiating treaties, and keeping the peace as best he can in a world that seems to be pushing actively for the opposite. He believes the people of Fynali all deserve to live in safety and prosperity, and has spent the majority of his life trying to make that a reality.

Raveth Orsa

Tiefling, Captain of the Lost Hope, First Mate of the Void Queen

Born, fully grown, nearly 800 years prior, Raveth Orsa was the Warden-Selected representative of Illusion magic for the Keepers of Destiny. Uninterested in the 'administrative bullshit,' she created a simulacrum named Tali to act as the High Keeper of Illusion for the organization. Raveth used her gifts with illusions for chaos and mischief, enjoying her powers and abilities without much consideration for the responsibilities that came with such powers. Once the Keepers of Destiny dissolved, Raveth split herself and Tali fully, giving Tali-- as she always had-- the burdens of their life before. All the memories of the Keepers, all of the powers of her illusion magic, were given to Tali, and Tali was shifted to the level of Patron for Raveth. Unburdened by memories of the end of the world and the mission of the Keepers of Destiny, Raveth dove into living, finding her place on the open seas and with a crew that appreciated and encouraged the creativity and recklessness that her Keeper siblings always detested.

One of Raveth's favorite crewmates was Grayce MacNalley, a younger, much more composed tiefling woman whose quiet spirit of adventure fit as a perfect complement to Raveth's chaotic act-first-think-later approach. Captain Raveth was a bit more tempered in the days when Grayce was on-board, and a bit more impulsive once Grayce had left. Raveth never blamed Grayce for not saying goodbye-- both Raveth and Grayce knew how difficult Raveth could be, and how unlikely she was to take such a decision from Grayce without a storm of unnecessary pushback and questioning, but the loss hung heavy with her until she met up with Grayce again during an unlikely mission to find her stolen boat. And since Raveth had no memories of her time as part of the Keepers of Destiny, the fact that Grayce was one of the Blessed individuals she had spent centuries looking for was completely lost on her. Though, when all of her memories and her time as Tali returned to her, she certainly found the fact quite funny-- especially since Grayce had been riding by her side for literal decades.

Selena Peat

Human, Druid and Blessed of Spriggit

Selena Peat was the first child ever born inside the walls of the Wiltspar Village. She has warm tan skin and a mane of tangled brown curls that have a mind of their own. She is a naturally curious and precocious thirteen-year-old child person who has always been deeply connected to plants, animals, and anything else nature has to offer. Just prior to her thirteenth birthday, Selena was on wall patrol with Sssaltine when she found a small rock in a perfect moth shape. As she approached it, it began to glow. Her fingers absorbed the warmth and light from it, and it imbued her with a new sense of determination and purpose. She painted the rock to resemble a Luna Moth-- her favorite bug-- and attached it to a chain that she now wears around her neck.

Professor Pluveria

Aarakocra, Leader of the Arcane Archipelago; Headmaster of the Arcademy

Professor Pluveria is an all-black aarakockra with raven-like features and a keen intellect. As the leader of the Arcane Archipelago and the head of the Arcademy, a school that offers a comprehensive education in all forms of magic, he rewards curiosity and love for knowledge. He has an easy drawl and gentle tone that bely his formidible magical prowess.

Captain Preston

Tortle, Former Captain of the Queen Dowager

Captain Preston was saved in a wreckage by The Boatswain and offered him a job on his new boat, The Queen Dowager. The Boatswain sailed with Captain Preston under that flag for a time until Captain Preston turned pirate. He squashed The Boatswain's mutiny and abandoned him on an island in the middle of nowhere. When The Boatswain and the rest of the Moonlighters found the captain and the boat again, he had begun a new career in war profiteering. The Moonlighters exposed him, and with the help of new powerful friends in Lorecliff, had the former captain arrested on grounds of treason.

Riana the Starfall

Gnome, Rogue

Riana the Starfall was preocupied with the thought of her own death since the moment she could conceive of the concept. Knowing that one day her existence would end, she vowed to milk her days on the planet for all they were worth. She stole and swindled and indulged every petty instinct that came to her. Until she overheard harsh words from the only person she ever cared for; her younger sister spoke to a friend, claiming that Riana's selfishness was the least worthwhile way to live a life and that she believed her sister was wasting hers in the worst way possible. This hit Riana hard and she took it to heart. She tried, for the remaining 8 days of her life, to do good and give back. She died very quickly after this epiphany, falling to her death from the cliffs outside of Lorecliff in her successful attempt to save the life of a person who slipped off the edge.

Aurelius Slade

Half-Elf, First Scion of Crystalia

Aurelius is the eldest son of Archon Xenia Slade of Crystalia. He is a formidible Eldrich Knight, skilled in both magic and weapon combat. He has a temper and is used to doing whatever he needs to in order to get what he wants. He was discovered by The Moonlighters to be a Commander of the Order of Righteous Conflict, his symbol a spear made in the likeness of his own bound weapon.

Octavi Slade

Half-Elf, Second Scion of Crystalia

Octavi is Archon Xenia Slade's youngest child and was kidnapped while she was at the Warden's Festival in Platinum City.

Archon Xenia Slade

Half-Elf, Leader of Crystalia

Archon Xenia Slade is a fierce warrior, with sharp features and piercing green eyes that seem to miss nothing. Her tan skin is etched with scars from countless battles, and her black hair is kept short and tidy. She wears armor that is both functional and beautiful in its simplicity, showcasing her country's no-frills approach to battle and life.. As a half-elf born and raised under the Crystalian flag, Archon Xenia is ferocious and calculating, but entirely no-nonsense.

Storm of the Sands

Human, Bard

Sandstorm is her pen name/stage name. She grew up in a nunnery/orphanage which had 50 sisters/nuns who raised Storm. She has used the idea of having 50 mothers in her music and songs. She died when her throat was slit by a mugger.

Chauncey Stoutfoot

Harengon, Co-Secretary of Wiltspar, and Necromancer

Chauncey Stoutfoot is the twin brother of Penelope and serves as one of the secretaries at the Wiltspar. He is dark and moody with disheveled fur and weary eyes. With a sullen and broody disposition, he exudes indifference and cynicism. Chauncey is a talented necromancer and has gaggles of undead 'friends' to pick up the slack in his chores. He seems more engaged with his magic and anything post-life than in personal interactions.

Penelope Stoutfoot

Harengon, Co-Secretary of Wiltspar

Penelope Stoutfoot, a young harengon woman, serves as one of the Wiltspar secretaries alongside her twin brother Chauncey. With boundless energy and an cloyingly positive attitude, she is certainly the better rabbit sibling to ask if you have a question that needs an actual answer. Penelope maintains a massive book of information that she constantly updates, aiding her in supporting the Wiltspar community and making it thrive. She co-created the Wiltspar Reconstruction Program and is always full of ideas to improve the things in the village.

Tali (Soulbound)

Appears as Dwarf, Master Illusionist

Tali was the High Keeper of Illusion for the Keepers of Destiny, appearing as a female dwarf with long red hair. Originally created by Raveth Orsa as a simulacrum to take over the 'boring' responsibilities of trying to save the world from encroaching darkness, Tali was the main operator for the Keepers. Following their departure from the fractured Keepers, Raveth and Tali fully split, resulting in Tali manifesting, no longer as an illusion, but as an entity of her own. After The Moonlighters completed the Illusion Trial, Tali gave her powers to them and the Warden's Shield, abandoning her physical body and binding her soul and magic to the shield to aid the Heroes' quest to save Fynali.

Trent of Dead End

Goliath, Bard

A slam-poet who gathered massive crowds to hear his poems all talking of the inevitability of death. He claimed that death itself guided his pen as he wrote his poems. Although he had many near-fatal accidents in his short life, his last was the most bizarre. He fell down a flight of stairs, an occurrance that should have broken every bone in his body. Instead, he was completely unscathed. He stood up from where he fell, took a step forward onto the street and was trampled to death by a horse that appeared seemingly out of nowhere.

Trixie

Owner of the Moonlight Carnival

Trixie appears as a small gnome woman with an expression that is at once painfully bored and remarkably vexed. She has a mass of thick and curly black hair that is often twisted into a high, careless bun. She wears spiked hide armor that is a few shades lighter and pinker than her violet eyes, and, if she carries a weapon, it has always remained concealed. She speaks with the accent of a receptionist from the far off plane of 'Jersey,' and with a tone that, at kindest, would be considered flippant. Trixie gives off the energy of someone who would laugh very hard at compilations of people falling down staircases, or an angry toddler who would happily kick down a classmates's nearly constructed block tower. Yet, do not be fooled by her petulance and apparent youth, as she knows much more than she has ever willingly divulged.

Emperor Zarius Tyr

Elf, Leader of Tyrrus

Zarius Tyr is a striking figure, with sharp features and a piercing gaze that seems to look right through you. His pale skin is almost translucent, and his black hair is often worn pushed back from his face. He is always impeccably dressed, with fine silks and velvets that speak of his wealth and power. His arrogance and bloodthirsty nature often lead him to regard others as beneath him until they prove their worth. As an elf, his swordsmanship with the greatsword is impressive and makes him a confident and competent warrior, striking fear in the hearts of his enemies.

On the 24th of Blooming in the 999th EoW, an abundance of evidence implicates the emperor in an assassination attempt on five of The Moonlighters in Crystalia. Robed plasmoid creatures, in a coordindated attack, snuck to where the Blessed individuals slept and initiated a sneak attack. The Moonlighters survived, but they all recognized the crest of the nation of Tyrrus on the assassin's robes.

Dr. Randall vanRicketts

Elf, Master Alchemist and Artificer

Dr. Randall vanRicketts is a famous alchemist who has contributed countless advances to the field across his many centuries of life. Although his public persona is rather pristine, the truth of his experimentations paints a much different picture. Courtesy of a little time-travel trip a few hundread years into the past, The Moonlighters learned that Dr. vanRicketts and his apprentice were conducting horrendous experiments on adventurers they had hired to deal with a haunting. Journals, books, and other records showed the sinister nature of his work, and that he had seemingly no ceiling when it came to what he would try next.

Wendell the Bonecrusher

Gnome, Ranger

Born in the Underdark, Wendell dreamed of a life in the sun. He was very bad with money, as he was always giving it away: to the needy, but also to swindlers and con artists. He took this in stride, believing that even liars probably needed the money more than he did. His friends started calling him "Bonecrusher" in an attempt to make him a less obviously attractive mark. Unfortunately, the nickname birthed new, false rumors of horrific violence he never committed. He was hanged by an angry mob. His last words were, "Don't worry about it."

Winston Frost

Aasimar, Cleric

His name is Winston Frost and his honey is lost. Tasked with preparing Celestial Mead for a hunting party of the gods, Winston was bedeviled by thieves who stole the key ingredient: honey from an astral bee. Winston dedicated his life to infiltrating the criminal underworld to find it. He did eventually find a large hive of what he believed to be astral bees, but instead found out they were Hell Wasps, and they killed him.
