After a long recounting of recent events that starts with the erasure of Rix and ends with the very deserved and brutal murder of Aurelius wherein, Louie says fuck 116 times. "We ended up killing him but not before he stabbed me with a crazy dagger that cut me off from the gods completely." Louie pulls back his jacket to show her the scar that is forming into a brand.

"Oh, Louie," Miku whispers, her hand reaching up and stopping just inches from his skin. "It-- can I?" She asks, voice hesitant.

She waits for his nod, and then her fingers brush back his fur to touch the strange scar. "It's so cold," she says, a furrow between get brows. "What... It cut you off from Nocturne?"

"From all of them. Just feels cold and empty when I try. Same thing happened to Rix. I guess that's what they're tryin' to look into now. I just... I need to not be special right now." He says as he looks at the ground, completely defeated.

"Well, that's not going to happen," she says in her matter-of-fact way, her hand moving from his scar to his jaw. "You ain't ever not special. Not one day since the day you was born, Lou. You can take a break from this god business, but if you want someone to lie to you and tell you that you ain't special, you know I can't do that."

"I don't deserve you..." He says as he gently places a hand over hers.

"Oh yeah you do. I'm definitely punishment for one of your many sins," she says with a light grin, her eyes dancing.

He takes a deep shaky breath before blurting out "I... I love you. I haven't known how to say it but I've been in love with you since we were kids. I just need to tell you now before anything else happens to me. I'm not scared of dyin' but, I'm terrified of regretting not sayin' anything. You don't have to feel the same way and if you're not ready to talk about this, that's fine too. I just... I needed to tell you that you're everything to me and the thing that has kept me goin' through all of this bullshit."

The small furrow returned between her brows as he spoke. Her lips part in surprise and, it is just a moment-- a single beat of silence that pass between them once the last word left his mouth-- before she pulls him to her by his vest and kisses him soundly.

When they finally part, Louie hangs his head and laughs softly before looking her in the eye and saying, "You've been waiting for me to say that for a while now, haven't you?"

"Yeah, ya big dummy," she says with a laugh, swatting him in the chest. "I was going to give you the chance to get assigned on one more deadly mission without giving me a dramatic goodbye before I was going to do it for you."

Chuckling, he says "Sorry to keep you waiting, and thank you for being so patient with me."

"I love you, too, Lou. In case that wasn't clear," she says with a laugh, both of her hands to his face.
